I'm using Gain now, but when it gets out of the dryer it doesn't smell as good anymore.

Use a little more detergent than the directions tell you. Use a dryer sheet with a smell you like. When the laundry is done and folded put it in a clean plastic bag and throw the dryer sheet it in with it. You can still put the plastic-covered stack of clean towels in a linen closet; and they'll stay clean and stay nice smelling.

Put something like used dryer sheets in drawers where clothes are kept (or put a nice-smelling soap or other scented product in the drawers). Keep the drawers closed tightly.

Sometimes if you have something like towels (that don't need to be taken out of the dryer right away because of wrinkles) if you leave them in the dryer for a while past the time they're ready to be removed the items will pick up the fresh air that comes in through the dryer vent. Stuff comes out smelling as if it has been hung on a line - only without the beetles attached to it.

I used to use Gain and had the same problem - especially with my towels -

You can add Borax (I used "20 mule team borax- its found on the laundry aisle and is meant as an additive for laundry) I would add the borax , then pour in the regular amount of detergent - it worked for a while (even with someone in the house with very sensitive skin - I am now dating someone else and he uses Wisk and it seems to work and smell better than Gain and I don't have to pay extra for the borax (unless its just a really dirty load of clothes)

Hope this helps

I try not to mix 2 smells together. I used an unscented detergent 1 cup of vinager for a large load and a great smelling fabric softener. My clothes smell like they have hung outside all day. And don't worry the vinager leaves no smell, just seams to give it an extra freshness.

I use Era and then Downey fabric softener with Frebreeze in it. My clothes can hang in the closet for weeks and still smell great.
