actually you can... and a brand new one at that... you'll just have to wait a while. MIT are designing a sub $100 laptop which runs linux and is to help people in developing countries. heck it even has wireless!

Not one that would be functional or productive. In my opinion, buying a $100 laptop (if you can find one) would be a complete and total waste of $100.

Yes but you will not get very much for your money. Try a search on Ebay for a used laptop. By best advice is add about $200.00 more and get something decent.
