My doctor told me the same thing. It also has other delightful side affects, such as hair loss, weight gain, spotting, etc.

i haven't heard about a higher cancer risk (I'd like to see that research), but it definitely has a risk of permanent bone density loss, which should be a real consideration for long term use. it is a good method for some women, but if you are able to take another kind of BC that has estrogen in it as well, it is better for bones (and lowers the risk for certain types of cancer vs not being on BC).

And anyone thinking about other implants (including Implanon): not only will you gain weight, but you also have a pretty good chance of experiencing the eternal period. Near-constant bleeding, loss of sex drive...granted you won't get pregnant, but there are easier ways.
Let's just say none of the more permanent doohickeys have been really thought out yet.

An alternative publication came to me in the mail, unsolicited, that states that phosphorus in our diets are causing us to have more difficulty in the absorption of calcium, therefore...
Unless you can rid phosphorus in your diet, the calcium aids are futile. I tend to agree, since my mother has been on fosamax for some 20 yrs (maybe a little less yrs), and she STILL has lost some 4.5 inches in height and her shoulders are rounded and she is now "frail".
The publication said that phosphorus is added into our foods unbenownst to us, and gets by the FDA because of it's classification. I still need to research further on this...

Hate to disagree but Depo Privera has been used as a birth control method and also kept me from having my hysterectomy for over a year....my OB/GYN used it for birth control because it was four shots a year and less chance of cancer.
What's your source?
