These dirt bags, murdering people for a few stinking dollars, murdering people and stealing their cars. The drive by shootings, killing non intentional targets, the burglaries gone bad resulting in innocent people being killed. This country is the real war zone. The killing in Iraq is nothing compared to what is going on under our noses.
In 2005, there we 4080 murders reported in the US, and those were only from cities with a population of 10,000 or more citizens. So far, violent crimes have increased about 3.% for 2006.
And we are worried about the sunnies killing the sheits in Iraq? We should be taking care of our own problems. Shame on our Government

Wow, you all sound like such a bunch of COMPASSIONATE Americans. You people don't see that it is your sons and daughters that are the real murderers in our society? But you all want to call our troops murderers and baby killers, when it is you and me who send them away to do the killing? What a bunch of Yahoos.
Murders are not all random acts of violence. When the thugs pick up a gun, they know they are going to use it. I think a quicker turn around on death penalty cases would help to curb the murder rate. How about one day. You get convicted, and the next day you are executed. In public. On TV ! At the superbowl half time show.

Some are, yes. They have many different faces and different agendas. Some run MTV, some attend religious services in Muslim Mosques, some drive silly looking 1986 Impala's with 25 inch gold spinner wheels that look like giant Hot Wheels cars, some traffic in drugs and some work in our government on BOTH sides of the political fence. For the moment though, and for the long term view, I think we need to finish what was started over in the middle east. After the murderous radicals are dealt with, we can get back to domestic issues. One thing at a time. Especially when it's a thing that affects the entire global population.

How do you think we should go about stopping random acts of violence? Can you plan ahead to see that someone is going to snap? There will always be crime.

I won't deny that criminals terrorize their victims, but they aren't the only real terrorists. They word has come to be used only to describe those who use terror for political reasons. Common criminals don't pose an existential threat, political terrorists do.

it's true... but it's easier to point the finger at someone else... it's called misdirection, look over there while I do this over here.... That's exactly what Bush did when NASA sent Spirit and Opportunity to Mars, "Look, Look, Look, we're on Mars! (Don't mind the fact that the media has uncovered America's torture camps)" Once the Mars hype died down the truth about what was going on came out.
