You equate spending allot of money with being thoughtful and many would agree. You feel that they did not show you the same kind of thoughtfulness which must mean they don't care about you as much.

Do they have the same type of income? Do they have more people to give to?

Either they are @#$holes or they are trying to send you a message. I know a person who thinks that money is the only way to show caring. Do you show other ways that you care for them?

I hope you can figure it out and get back to enjoying Christmas. I have not gotten a good present in years, but I still love to give presents. I gave up on hoping to get something cool (hey I am human for wanting a gift I like). Now I just focus on how much I enjoy giving. I love Christmas, I'll do what I have to to keep it a happy time for me, hope you can find a way too.

Good luck. :)

Wow! What a rant!

However, I sympathize. It is discouraging when one spends time and money on nice gifts and the recipients aren't grateful. Then, you get some not-so-nice gifts.

Have you started buying yet? I ask because maybe you can cut down on all the gifts. Limit your gift giving to your immediate family. Or, simply draw names. Each participant will list 3 things and set a price limit. That may help.

Otherwise, tell them your done with the Christmas present thing.
If they want to know why, tell them. Maybe not in the way you told us, but in a way that it is understood.

Money is tight, I want to cut down on the presents this year.
I have all the knick-knacks I can use. Thanks for the thought, but don't get me any more.
Let's donate to a charity this year in each other's names. This way the money is spent in a more appropriate way and everyone is happy.

Buy what you feel they deserve. You will do the right thing.By the way,do you have a little dog that has a horn tied on top of his head? Not really, people are sometimes greedy, you go buy them the kind of stuff they bought you. They say people buy for others what they like themselves.

Just don't spend that much money on them this year and go out and buy yourself something nice.

Just don't get them anything.

Make a donation in their name to the ACLU.

I plan to do that this year for my brother.

re-wrap what each of them gave you last year and give it to them this year! If you don't have what they gave you last year, then buy them each a roll of toilet paper or something stupid like that.
