I recently read that they do not exist. That they are "dark matter" which will explain away all the missing matter in the universe.

Black holes are undefinable, yet they are not quite "dark matter" (dark matter is much more unknown than black holes), they are the death stats of a very massive star. This end-product is so massive, it creates a rip in the space-time continuum (which I think should be split into 3 dimensions:disturbance, inverse disturbance and space-time.) Even Einstein didn't like the idea of black holes, yet there is one in the center of our galaxy. The disturbance and the star's end-product is the best way to define a black hole.

I am not Dr.Hawking but I like answering questions about black holes.
I used to think they were pretty neat things but I know that they are illogical useless non viable entities.
They seemed at one time to explain the evolution of massive stars and neutron stars, but the existence of a black hole is a much bigger problem than a maxed out neutron star.
Its existence violates the principal that limits the speed of light!

Well, i am not Dr. Hawking or as great as he is but I might like to answer that question....

Well, I think Dr. Hawking is true about black holes...Who doesn't know about black holes? The black holes are famous because of him. But could there be a mistake?? No way.
We just don't see them. Have you ever seen anything that sucks up even light??? You can't!!
