I am a mum and the things I like best (off my daughters) for xmas are: a bottle of Baileys, Merrydown cider, Body lotion from my favourite perfume (I've usually got enough perfume but money doesn't stretch to the lotion too) and a food hamper or Tesco vouchers -again I see such nice things while doing the weekly shop but the budget doesnt stretch to luxuries.. The best thing she gave me was her Motorola razr, when she upgraded.
The thing I like least (don't tell her this plz) is the glass block trinket she got me last week (when she missed paying me back for her laptop.)

I always asked my mum what she might like--if she said "ánything'' as she often did, I would push a bit.
I would usually try to buy her one nice thing, be it a robe or jewlery, and then a few inexpensive things--like bath salts (bubble bath), slippers, etc.
She died before I started uni this last time, but I still remember her smile, her happiness over the least little things. Toward the end I bought several little presents, and each night she would open one--it would be flowers, a very inexpensive vase. Things like that.
I hope this helps!

If it is possible, you do the preparing of the christmas dinner with all the trimmings and give her a day off. I am sure she would appreciate it. Alternatively, you could give her a weekend at a health spa or even a private hotel where she can be pampered and have nothing to do but relax and enjoy herself.

Does your mom have any hobbies? Does she like anything in particular? I got my mom an assortment of things. She is very hard to shop for. I got her Michael J Fox 's book Lucky Man because I know she's been wanting to read it. The Trans Siberian Orchestra cd because she went to go see them in concert, and the new Keith Urban cd because she likes his music. About $45.00 total. Shopping online is much easier and faster too. Hope I helped you out some!!

Easy - She loves you, and wants to spend time with you.
Take her to lunch or brunch. Have a small present (perhaps earrings) and a card that you made. How long has it been since you actually created a card for her. I know every mother who has received a "home-made" card by their child keeps it forever.
If you have more funds, take her to a fancy place for lunch and just tell her to get dressed up. Don't tell her where you're taking her until you get there.
She will love you for it especially to spend time with YOU, her child who remembered her even though you were so busy!
GOD bless.

Something warm. Especially if you are in the north cold country area. A sweater, or some nice gloves or heavy ladies sox. A new throw for the couch. Or some nice scented Holiday candles always are appreciated. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

Depends on your budget, but I recommend one of those Nintendo games which stimulate memory or call for some intelligence.
Or how about a gift certificate for a beauty treatment? Or a soothing CD?

Things she wouldn't buy for herself. nothing for the house...do you buy your dad a toaster? he uses it too! Trips to the spa or hair salon are good. Think things that are only meant for her...jewelry if she likes it, her favorite scent, I also agree to the "time certificates" make her a book of certificates to use throughout the year like: good for one lunch with your favorite child (who would be you of course), good for one lawn trimming, good for one chat; you get the idea! Mom's love to spend time with their kids...ok most mom's but sounds like yours is a good one!
