If youre considering a college, Ivy League colleges are prestige such as Harvard, Princeton, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Yale.....and more.

For high school, there is not much emphasis on being best unless you go to private schools, which may offer finer education and prepare for pre-college years at a higher cost.

Note: you dont have to go to the best schools neccessarily, you just have to make good grades, and get scholarships in small yet good schools, like Duke University, U C Berekeley, Rice University, Penn State. Good luck! The key to the door is scholarships.

If youre an international student asking about best schools in the usa, I would be say to be realistic. There are many people trying to get into the best Ivy league universities/colleges. I would consider a community college, make very good grades there, and transfer to a good university of your choice.

Good luck in the future!

It depends on what major you want to go into. The "best" for engineering would be either Michigan or MIT (based on what program you are most interested in of course). The "best" for law would probably be Harvard, University of Washington at St.Louis, or some other private school like that. If you want to know about public universities I would suggest looking up how many of the top scholarships they have received (like Marshall, Truman, Goldwater, Udall and Rhodes) and then take a look at what they have to offer.

It depends how you define "best." Academics? In liberal arts or pre-med or business or engineering? Social life? Quality of life?

Regardless, even if you define it as "best academics and reputation," you'd find there are quite a few schools that float to the top.

The Ivy League schools, of course, but you could certainly add Williams, Amherst (small, private liberal arts schools); Duke University, University of Virginia; MIT, CalTech, Stanford, etc. MANY great colleges and universities.

Best school for what? that's a very subjective question. You have to be more specific, like the best school for partying, or the best school for education majors.

I would think that's a matter of opinion.

But probably one of the Ivies, or West Coast equivalents.
