ok so i'm kind of embarrassed to talk to my mom about this but there is a strange smell coming from my crotch. i didnt notice it until about a month ago and i know its not infection and it doesnt itch or have abnormal discharge it just smells strange. i have tried to use the wipes and i shower every night and/or morning so i know i'm clean but i dont know what to do. i'm too embarrassed to ask my mom for douches..i dont know what to do. i shower, i change my underwear every night and morning and i'm 100% sure its not an infection. the only difference is clear discharge and a funky smell. thats all....and if i talk to my mom, she'll automatically assume i'm having sex or sumthing. she is just like that. i know its not yeast, i have had that b4. and i have had many other infections b4. i know what an infection is and i DONT have one. im just wondering what i can do for odor!

If you don't want to go buy you a douche, try bathing in vinegar and water.

1. Are you at all sexually active? Have you EVER had sex? Because if so, you need to get tested for STDs. Go to a Planned Parenthood nearby (go with a friend, if you want) and get tested.
2. That general area of the body does tend to leak and smell bad. (Sorry to be crass, but it's true.) What you eat can change how it smells, and many women do have discharge outside of menstruation. Once you've ruled out any kind of infection, make peace with your body. Odds are you're the only one who notices the odor - if you're worried, maybe just find a light cologne you like to keep yourself smelling good all the time.
3. Because of #2, douches and rinses and feminine deodorant are NOT a good idea! They will only further irritate you, causing more odor and discharge. Let your body do its thing! You're doing the right thing by showering regularly and wearing clean underwear (cotton is better than nylon, by the way) and taking good care of yourself.

Take care of yourself. Go to the doctor. And really: moms are pretty cool when you talk to them honestly and graciously. Things like this are what moms are for.

Hi. Well. You have said that it doesn't itch and that you shower and such, but the smell still remains. Sometimes smells can come from foods that we eat. But, just take a deep breath. there are many different kinds of infections and they are totally innocent. if you have allowance money just go on over to riteaid and check out the shelves. They have different creams that can help the odor in 1 to 5 days. Drink plenty of water to flush things out and you should be fine. If that doesn't work, I'd just tell your mom. She's a woman too and I bet she's suffered some infections before. It's better to tell her than to have her smell you and assume the worst. Just be honest. Sex has nothing to do with a yeast infection because children get them too. Good luck.

Clear Discharge normally means your ovulating, a week or so after your period. To ovulate, means you are passing the unused egg cells, making way for new ones. The weird smell can be that or when you sweat. Just try to stay clean, change your underwear more than once a day, to feel fresh. When you notice the clear discharge, use the ultra thin pantyliners in your underware. You can find these in any store, they are sold by the tampons and pads. They even have sented pantyliners, too keep you smelling good. Try this and see a difference.

Keep it clean and DON'T use the wipes-they're infections waiting to happen. You might want to avoid soap, too. Try using Olay or Dove soaps instead, they're not actually soap. I had a similar problem and it was just a reaction to soap; for some reason my vagina didn't like soap and was trying to cleanse itself of the soap by over-producing discharge. Hope that helps. Also, might want to ask a girl friend, a close aunt/friend's mom/coworker about it. I'm the same way-I'm 22! but I'd rather ask a complete stranger about this stuff than my mother.

It all depends, Does this discharge comes out every day or before and after your period? In my opinion you might have a classic vaginal discharge. As far as the funky smell it might be a vaginal infection. All women have vaginal discharge. Normal discharge may appear clear, cloudy white, and/or yellowish when dry on clothing. It may also contain white flecks and at times may be thin and stringy. Changes in normal discharge can occur for many reasons, including menstrual cycle, emotional stressors, nutritional status, pregnancy, usage of birth control pills. OR IT COULD BE A "BACTERIAL VAGINOSIS" SYMPTOMS.....include increased amount of discharge ,Grey or white, thin, watery discharge , Foul/fishy odor with discharge, Increased odor to discharge immediately after intercourse . Go see a dr. if that makes you feel better. It could be many things. Good Luck girl!

An odour can be a sign of infection. You dont have to have a discoloured discharge to have a UTI. It is natural for there to be some smell down there...as long as it isnt overpowering and it can also depend on your cycle as well. It may not have ever happened before with you, but our hormones do change at different times in our lives.

Go to your doctor anyway and ask for a swab or even take a urine test to check for lucocytes (they are responsible for the infection). If there is none he/she might be able to recommend some kind of feminine hygiene product for you to use to help get rid of it.

You should not douche. douching eliminates the normal vaginal flora, and can lead to more odor and infections.

Could be bacterial vaginosis. That can cause some odor, and although it can be sexually transmitted, it doesn't necessarily have to be.

Your best bet is to see a doctor about it. But in the mean time, stay away from douches and deodorant sprays. They'll make the problem worse. Try wearing cotton underwear.

has your diet changed? are you eating any new types of food? I know when I eat asparagus - my pee smells funky.

Are you sure its not an infection of some sort? If you are absolutely sure that you cannot approach your mom about this - you can always go and be checked at planned parenthood. They are confidential & you can be treated for whatever is wrong without anyone being the wiser. Good luck.
