There are many guitar packs that come with a guitar, mini amp, videos ext.... The best way to go is to take some time out of your week and get lessons.$10 for about 30 minuets a week is about wright. For the type of music you want to play I would recommend a cheaper electric guitar like squire or epiphone if your just beginning. Check out Musicians Friend.com, this time of year they always have good deals.

Well...the guitar you want, is a six-stringed electric guitar. I suggest Gibsons, Epiphones, or Fender Stratocastors. Even though they are expensive, they have great tone and last a long time. You would need an amplifer (Epiphone makes a SG starter pack with an amp included). I suggest a small (these amps have a lot of power.) Peavey, Epiphone, or Marshall. You also need Guitar picks. Jim Dunlop or Fender would do fine. Get Medium to Extra Heavy, for faster playing. If your talkin bass...there is Gibson and Ibanez. I don't know too much about bass, just that they require different amps, compared to a six-string. Also, you can play them slap style and pick style. Slap is where you use your fingers (thumb plays off-beats [1 and 3] and the fingers play on beats [2 and 4].

That's "bass" guitar, friend....

well, you're talking about rhythm guitar. That is when the guitarist maintains the overall rhythmic and harmonic feel of the song with tasteful (and sometimes simple) playing.

Any guitar can do this.

Any guitar at all.

Say you like Tom Delonge? Want a guitar tone (the sound of the actual guitar, not the person playing it) similar to his? Then go with any solid bodied electric guitar with single coil pickups.............

basically, if you're learning, just cut out pictures of the guitarists that you like (with their guitars), go to a music store (like Guitar Center) and buy whatever you can afford that is the most like their guitars. Then, on the way out, buy a guitar magazine with TABLATURE that has the most songs in it you'd like to learn. Or, just buy a book of Blink-182 songs; if you already know how the music sounds, then you will know what you are doing incorrectly when you don't sound like your favorite music.

Then go to your room.

Don't come out.

Practice until you get thick facial hair.

And forget about falling in love.

That worked for me.......

P.S. The Fender Squier series would be perfect for you. About $200 tops, you can find a fine Squier Startocaster for about $100.

if you want to go into the rock scene and play rhythm (the other guitarist is the lead/solo guitarist) then you'll want to learn some basic barre chords, 1st position chords, and some easy songs to start with.

Most green day and blink 182 songs are pretty easy to learn, so is everclear, nirvana and foo fighters.

I suggest learning the basic 1st position chords and getting comfortable with switching between them before learning barre chords, like C, D, G, G7, Am, Em, F, etc...

As a freshly starting beginner, just get an electric guitar package that comes with everything you need to start playing, they cost about $130 - $200, unless you can get a used package.

Good brands: Fender, Ibanez, Yamaha

Fender makes a brand called Squier, and any intermediate/advanced guitarist will refuse to play Squier but as a beginner, it would work for you, plus they're relatively inexpensive.

If you're really anticipating learning, take lessons, but if you don't want to, then you'll want to purchase a guitar chords book/chart and a level 1/beginner guitar lesson book and teach yourself.

good luck, and happy playing!

The kind of guitar you're talking about is an electric guitar. Tom DeLonge has his own line of Fender (that's the brand name) guitars, but you should get something cheaper to start out on. You can get a cheap Fender or Squire (Squires are cheap versions of Fender guitars) strat (that's the name of the model), or a generic strat knock off. You can go to your local guitar store, and they probably have starter kits that include the guitar, the amp, and cables.
