he's got a new, younger, friend, listens to new music that a year ago he called crap, hangs out at Hooters once a week at least, recently got a new car...and I feel like somehow I'm not enough...he reassures me that is not the case, but I don't know how to deal with my feelings of insecurity. I don't want to ask him not to do these things, because there is nothing wrong with them individually, but together they seem to paint a larger picture. Help? suggestions?

Whew from the title I thought you were my wife. My crisis isn't as bad as his.
Keep an eye on him. Tell him about your concerns. Go with him but don't be a drag.

I got a motorcycle during my midlife crisis. It's a sweet ride. I am having fun with it. The wind in my hair and on my face.

Yup, he's having a midlife crisis. I would make sure to try and keep involved with him as much as possible but to not let him off the hook for family obligations.

Offer to go with him so that you can see there is no harm in just going out, or the new car, or the music. Maybe then you wont feel this way.

I suggest you stop sitting around home and go out and do things on your own as well. You can't just wait for him. Have fun. He may think twice about all his changes if he sees you making changes of your own.
Good luck.

i think that you need to leave for a while, don't even tell him that your going and don't tell him where your going. he will realize what hes doing and hopefully change, when you leave, leave a note for him saying how you feel and why you left. you leaving just might make him snap out if it.
