In Germany there is teenager bopband called Tokio Hotel. The name alone sounds very cheesy and daffy. The main problem is that these youths have no musical background, neither do any music education. They´re 16 - 17 years old and are casted by the money greedy style producers. Their fans are around 12 until 18 years old girls. I´m speechless now, the german music award nominated them after their first released CD as the best newcomer ! while the legendary rockbands such as AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Queen or The Who needed to work bloody hard for their long periods to be the rock legends.

Am I crazy? or the youngster are foolish ? is this similar also happened in the UK?

Sounds familiar. The music industry has been totally ruined by record labels hiring "pretty boys/girls" with either poor or mediocre voices to "sing" songs written, produced by other people. In many cases their voices are meddled with in the recording studio to sound 10 times better than they actually do. These bands/singers are just talentless puppets to record labels who just want to earn a quick buck by selling records to 8-14 year olds.
The industry is also being ruined by tv shows like pop idol, x factor etc etc.
And then we have poor bands/singers with real talent who write and play their own music struggling to get a record deal, and playing tiny gigs for years to try to get noticed.
Arghhh

The teeny boppers have ruined music in the past (S Club juniors, Mcfly, etc) here in the UK. But there has been a revival in music recently. Basically, the rock/alternative and indie genres have had strong influences on the current scene. And thank the Lord too. Without them, we would have reached an all time low. We cannot depend on the Americans anymore. Their scene has been sadly overshadowed by the increasing rap/hiphop scene.

I would even welcome Take that and All Saints back to the music world. At least they aren't the manufactured clones that we get nowadays.

Teen music has only gotten worse. At least in the early part of the 60's when teens liked the Beatles, at least they were still playing instruments and actually singing. Now music is almost as nasty and cheap as Mcdonalds. Next year they will have completely forgotten about all the 'hits' they think are cool now and will be listening to something else bad and deny ever listening to that. That proves right there that its not even good music. Just what MTV happens to be playing. Good music should be something you want to listen to next year when its 'out of style'. I doubt the pussycat dolls and other novelty acts will be around in the next 30 years impressing and inspiring future musicians like the ones you just mentioned.

Yes. It has been happening here for years, it's called Manufactured Pop. We have many manufactured crappy bands here- The Spice Girls were the biggest, Boyzone, The Sugababes etc. They are picked just for their looks, shown a few dance steps and told to mime over a pre arranged/ pre manufactured catchy pop tune. They can't sing, none of them can actually play ANY musical instruments and their songs are played to death on the radio by mass marketing them. The big music companies spoon feed kids this garbage so that they don't know any different. It's a load of rubbish, just listen to your own music and try and explore beneath what "they" want you to listen to.

It's not the audience, it's the record companies. The consolidation of the record companies has killed the diversity of the bands they sign, and they are no longer run by music people, but by MBAs who wouldn't know originality if it ran over them in a tour bus.

ok a lot of brilliant bands (eg the beatles) had no formal education but had 2 things which you used to need to make good music and to get anywhere in the music business: talent and dedication. these bands have destroyed music by showing that now all you need is a good producer and the right image.
and that breaks my heart.

They killed the music sen in America a loooong time ago. Starting with New ids on the Block in the '80's. It is easy for them to dominate the pop charts when the music industry has radio and MTV in their pockets and that is ALL they play. If that is all the kids see that is all they are gonna buy. It SUCKS!!!

This has been going on for a while in the US. I hate it more than anything because I myself am a musician and very passionate about music. It is absolutely ridiculous and embarrassing.

QUOTE FROM THE WHO!"WHO THE HELL ARE YOU"?,,,,,,,
music like beauty is in the eye(ear)of the beholder.just cause you don't like it doesn't mean they don't.there are so many things to consider nowa days, that i would run out of space here.
but,,to be short,in the end it's only a few whose names remain.so,why attack the few who are forgotten overnight?give them their 5 minutes of fame.i doubt if any of the bands you mention are bashing them,as a matter of fact the entertainers i know, would bash you for,,,bashing these kids, and trust me i do know a lot of big name stars in the music industry, such as kiss, the late bon scott, tom petty, gravy(g.wilson)jackson browne,3 dog night,etc.....
