I think labels are just there to categorize people and then are used to discriminate against people. You can't label people because every one is different and it is just not fair to put people in categories, for any reason.

Unless someone is labeling you "ignorant", "jerk", or "as*hol*$", there is no reason for you to feel that a correctly placed label is hurtful. They help people to identify character traits and interests. For example, I am blonde. And that is fine. People should not hate that label due to the connotation of "dumb blonde" because it does not personify everyone with that hair color. Also, with the labels "prep", "goth", and "cheerleader"-those are not offensive because they tell in what style one dresses or what activities one decides to pursue. A label is a describing word. Not all are insults.

Thank you.

I for one don't label other people because they maybe different. But I would put a label on a coffee can or something like that. But People on the other hand I would never label.Cause its not right to label other people cause there different.I know what you mean cause people would label me too when I was a kid.and now people don't do it anymore.cause I took a stand for myself and told people.that I could either be there friend or the enemy.and they wouldn't want me to be there enemy.cause friends are better then ememy's good luck

I really dont think people should be labelled as we are all individuals but unfortunately it is a sad fact that they exist way too much. Labels should just be for clothes!

No matter how much you don't like labels there always going to be around. Labels are just a shorter way to classify people in to a group...jock, goth, emo, prep, gangsta...their always going to be there. Even if you say you hate labels your still going to use them, like classifying music or a specific group. It reall doesn't even make sense to try and stop. I just let it happen.

Ya know-I have asked a question similar to yours before.I don't really stand out in a crowd. I try not to label people. Labeling annoyes me when it's a negative thing. Like how people label lesbians or guys that are gay. Yes it may be called gay or lesbian. We are all just people and all want the same things. We all just want to be accepted for who we are and find happines.

Labels are there to male people feel secure. The reality is labels restrict, constrict and can damage. Avoid at all costs is my philosophy!!

Labels come in very handy. How else would I know if I was opening a can of chicken soup as opposed to a can of beans?

(Sorry, I'm in rare form right now)
