Our company received a 3-day notice to pay/quit. What can we do to buy some time or fight the notice? It is a successful business but the owner is our competitor and wants money that we do not owe to him. His property manager is a "yes" man and does whatever the owner tells him to, and we've requested copies of the cancelled checks from our bank but the bank told us it is a 3-5 business day turn around. We can't wait that long. Can anyone help us?

Hire an attorney immediately. If you truly owe him nothing he has absolutely no right to send you packing unless it was previously agreed upon. Too often landlords think they can do whatever they want with a property because it is theirs. However if you have a lease then technically you have every right to the property and the owner has very limited rights. Often landlords overstep their bounds and trust me most court systems will take the tenants side over greedy landlords.

I'd suggest calling an attorney to see if there was any way to put a stay on the notice. Also, an attorney would be able to tell you what other options you may have. Good luck, I hope this works out for the best for you.

If what you say is true and not merely an interpretation you need to get a lawyer right away or the sheriff will come and move you and even though you might have a cause of action then, you will still be out on the street.

A "pay of vacate" notice is the first step in eviction. Eviction takes about three months.

Get yourself an attorney. If what you explained is an accurate representation of what is happening, you and your attorney are going to make some money.

Your bank doesn't have online services? My bank actually has an online feature where I can view and PRINT a cancelled check. Did you look into this?
