What percentage of your cervix has thinned out? If you're not ready to go, you simply will not go into labor. With my first pregnancy I was told to help thin the cervix out I could drink a little mineral oil. Not only until afterwards did I know that mineral oil can be dangerous. Castor oil is definitely the best bet if you're going to use an oil. However, my second pregnancy, I drank half a bottle of Castor oil to go in labor. I heard SO many people say it would work--nothing happened. Three nights later I was intimate with my husband and less than 15 minutes after we had sex, I was in labor. Sex is actually the best method of natural labor induction because of the prostaglandins in the sperm thin out the cervix. Even with that in mind, unless your cervix is over 50% thinned, it's likely you'll have to wait a week or two. Believe me I know how impatient you must feel right now! ***As a side note, the reason mineral oil is unhealthy is because the spasms created during defecating can actually bruise the baby. Castor oil is less intense, but having taken both before, the pure nastiness of either oil is not worth the possibility of the baby being harmed or not going into labor at all. One thing you can do to cut down on the wretched flavor is to mix the oil with Juicy Juice, as long as it's not orange or another citric flavor. Good luck and I wish you a wonderful experience of delivery with a precious baby afterwards! :)

OMG critically please don't take a look at it!!! I attempted it while i used to be pregnant with my first son and it's terrible. You feel you are depressing now wait until once you take a look at the castor oil. First off you wont go away the toilet for no less than an hour seeing that you are going to be throwing up, and feature very dangerous diarrhea. Thats what castor oil was once used for again within the historical days was once to support folks who had been constipated pass to the toilet. Please don't do this for your self. To make subject worse as soon as i used to be performed feeling ill in the toilet it nonetheless didnt set off my hard work. I attempted different approaches too and not anything labored. When shes in a position she is going to pop out on her possess. I recognise thats no longer what u desire to listen to however supply it a while. Congrats on you are little one lady regardless that! No, unless you want to sit on the pot sick as a dog for a couple of days. I know this is going to sound preachy and redundant, but your baby will come when it's READY. Don't try to do something to force yourself into labor. If you have already waited 37 weeks you should be fine waiting a couple of more. If it's really that important to you to go into labor before your body is ready then ask your OB if they will induce you early.

You would not want to be in labor after drinking alot of castor oil..you would be crapping all over the place every time you had a contraction. My SIL tried it, she went into labor (totally unrelated to the castor oil I am sure) She was totally humiliated..

No, why do you want to induce labor? The baby will come soon enough. Enjoy your sleep now as difficult as it may be in your third trimester. Ask a doctor. Petocin will be introduced during an epidural to induce labor. Don't mess with nature. Happy delivery!

no, it can actually cause you to become serverly dehydrated.
the dehydration leads to the uterus contracting for fluid. The contractions are extremely painful with no effects in dialtation. Why would you induce labor? If your body has not set you into labor then your baby is not ready to say hello to the world. The oil will lead you to the runs. It can also lead to baby having his or her first stool in the womb and we all know that can cause serious problems.
Parents REALLY need to rethink rushing something so precious. Why would you cause illness to yourself or your unborn child?

Nope. It will induce going to the bathroom, not labor. The baby comes when the baby comes. Period. Get used to being on someone elses time schedule.

Im 37wks pregnant myself and would not recommend it. Castor oil makes you diarhhea and inflames your bowels. If your body is not ready for labour and you take this stuff you can become dehydrated and suffer from bowel upsets for days after.
I myself would loooovveee my baby to be here with me now too. My back is in severe pain and my pelvis is stretched to its limits. Yes im fullterm, but inducing the labour with stuff like that can be harmful. If you want something natural please seek assistance from an ob/gyn or a midwife. They can recommend safe remedies for you to take.

Castor oil is a laxative. Are laxatives good for a 37-week pregnancy? NO! Your baby will know when its time to be born...and let you know in a hurry! RELAX....
