2000 dodge stratus
i disconected battery once then after connecting battery and try to turn my car on the ignition fuse blew (motor won't crank and radio wont work). i replaced ignition fuse then it worked for a day i went to store, drove it for 40 - to 80 miles and next day my fuse was blown again i replace twice and it blew my igntion fuse twice. then i replace it once more and my car started again. i took my car to work again and when i was going to lunch my fuse was blown again

what is the problem? is it my ignition coil? how come is not shorted all the time because when replacing fuse radio is on it is only when i want to start the car (crank it ) that blows my fuse.

You have a short somewhere in your system. You need to have it looked at and repaired before you burn the vehicle up with an electrical fire.

If you blow the ignition fuse faifly often while starting your car, you probably have a short starting in your starter. The exact same thing started to happen in my grandmothers car a few weeks ago. I would replace the fuse and it would start 1-2 times and then blow. I had no time to look at it any furthur, but the chrysler mechanic said it was the starter and replaced it. bam its fixed.

Also. after 1996 all cars have OBD II You cannot erase a check engine code by disconnecting the battery. You must have it reset by a code reader or diagnostic comp.

You say it was not happening until you disconnected your battery and reconnected it correct?

When while you were working on your car you evidently crossed some wires somewhere creating a short somewhere. Double check all your work.

In the future save yourself a lot of trouble by marking all the wires you have disconnected and where they go. And if you are no sure about what you are doing take it to a shop and have the work done. Otherwise you are running the danger of your car turning into a crispy critter.

You have a short. An ignition coil has absolutely nothing do do with your complaint.

incorrect connection on the swap,a threat you place one part to B+ and different part to floor (B-). by way of fact the swap activate, it shorted the battery during the fuse and blow out.
