should i throw out ALL the drawer's contents or just that which was in contact with the food?

Not all mold is dangerous; but I think it depends on how well wrapped all the involved food (moldy and not moldy) are. If you have a moldy tangerine in with a bunch of non-moldy apples I think you should throw out everything. If, on the other hand, you have a package of moldy English muffins in a drawer with food that is well packaged you probably don't need to throw everything out.

Maybe I'm being conservative when it comes to throwing out something like produce that has been near other moldy produce. Maybe if you wash it really well it would be fine (I'm not positive about that). Its just that once one fruit has shared space with other moldy fruit it just seems like a good idea to me.

One of the dangerous molds we hear about is one that grows in wood and turns it black. On the other hand, people scrape mold off cheese and eat it.

This is a very ignorant question. I'm not atheist, but I mean come on. Have a little respect for other people's beliefs. Not everyone has to think the way that you do.

not sure. seems like u could just wash/clean the stuff.

btw, moldy rye bread lead to a great discovery.
