I can kinda relate to that. I was with a 'jerk', and found out that my newly next door nieghbor want to date me, just get get me away from the jerk. I broke it off with the jerk and now I'm still with the neighbor (( 2 years and 6 months Later ))

You have to be a hero and shine in some fashion. Girls and women are drawn to the strongest influences in the form of men a wimp won't cut it.

It's the same with kids. If the parents aren't strong, they'll run with the wrong crowd.

That's a Hollywood or Silhouette romance story-line, if you ask me. Bastards and Bitches are rarely short of willing victims. Which means that one should question if the person who needs rescuing, has any self-respect or any common sense in the first place.

She was on the dancefloor and I could tell she wasn't having a great time with the guy she was dancing with. I was heading to the bar and I caught her eye and gestured for her to follow me. She made some excuse and went towards me. I bought her a drink, we started chatting and I'll leaves things there for you but short ending I got her and he didn't.
