I work for a very wealthy attorney. Anyone he needs or wants, he has. Trying to come up with Christmas gift idea. He is married and has an 8 year old daughter. Anyway, was thinking of maybe a board game that he can play with his family. Is this a really silly idea? Be honest, I can take it :) Thanks for your help. And any other suggestions would be great.

I work for doctors who do not have a cash flow problem either so I know your pain. Through the years I have gotten the doctors gift certificates for a massage, a nice bottle of wine, golf balls, gift certificate for the local golf course and a painting. Of course, some of these gifts were bought by a few people chipping in. Another idea is give some money to a charity in his name and give him the receipt. Good luck and I hope whatever you get him he will appreciate.

I think a board game is a great idea. Since he has an eight year old daughter I might recommend Disney Scene It? or a classic or new style Monopoly is always fun. What ever you think suits him. If your still a bit nervous about if he'll like it or not just slip in the gift receipt. Hope I could help.

Wouldn't a gift of some homemade cookies,or candy be something his FAMILY would also enjoy? Or find out what his favorite desert is and make that. I think a homemade gift would be much better than a board game, and maybe make him think of his FAMILY more. Or go to a local Bakery and get something that is only a "Christmas" treat.

I don't know about you, but shopping for people I don't know very well is something I find extremely difficult. I usually go to a store like Wal-Mart and get them a gift card unless I know of a store that they like better. It is easy and they appreciate it. After all, Christmas is about the thought of giving not neccessarily the gift itself. Christmas is too commercialized so therefor we forget what Christmas is really about. At any rate good luck with your search for the perfect gift!!!

The attorneys I work for are all drinkers; a nice bottle of wine is one of the best gifts for them, or a gift card to someplace like Martin Wine Cellar. There are exceptions, though; one of my attorneys always asks for nothing but black socks. It's sort of an office tradition now. Another one collects unusual ties and tie pins. Two years ago, we all chipped in, and for the newer attorneys on staff, we got them fancy name plates for their desks, since they didn't have those.

board games were a great gift idea back in the 80's. Get him a subscription to Sports Illustrated. Every man loves that as a gift.

It's the thought that counts, and I think that's a really sweet thought. Maybe add a gift card to Pizza Hut or something to encourage some family time. I think it's great.
My family recently got Cranium and we had a blast over Thanksgiving--the whole family, parents, grandparents and grandchildren!

Children grew up so fast. The 8 year old daughter might not even want to play board games.
Here are a few ideas:
A set of sake bottle and cups if he drinks. http://www.galleriapangea.com/bamboo_covered_porcelain_sake_set_3_piece_sake_set/product_details.html
Handmade wood doll or hand puppet for the kid

Do you know whether he likes board games? I think anything relating to family activities is a good idea, so you are on the right track just try to find out what type of games he would enjoy playing. ex: chess, checkers, monopoly
