I have an idea for two different products that have major competitive advantages to any product I have found in over 3 months of research. I need to find out how to go about taking my idea and creating a prototype to secure funds. I also need to know a ballpark ranges for creating a prototype of a small shoebox size product shell in order to know if I have enough personal funds to get me to production. Any help would be appreciated!

David,
You could check out the manufacturers of similar products.
For example, you may buy a bottle of syrup from a company, but it buys the bottles from another company. The bottle company can "whip up" a bottle based on your design. The cost of the prototype will vary greatly depending on what the idea is or type of product you have. You may also consider prolonging or delaying the "prototype" because you don't need a shell to prove anything. It is just a shell. Try using modeling clay or plaster to show size and concept before you pay a company a lot of money for something that is not yet ready for production, or for something that will need modification. Imagine buying a new prototype each type you have to "make it an inch bigger" or "take a bit off this side" etc. I would first make a cheap clay or plaster model, make sure your customer/s or lender/s like the way it looks and feels, then tell them (if they like it as is and want to then see something more true-to-life) that you are getting the prototype made, you just wanted to save money in the design area (banks and other lenders love that you will be careful with their money - it makes them more willing to give it to you).
A random idea for a company would be this http://www.rpparts.com/ that came from Yahoo! search. I hope this helps, and good luck. Email me if this all works out. I haven't had the guts to "go for it" , but I may if you succeed.

I think any open world game will be pretty good. I love the thought of being able to go anywhere at anytime, not being held by a linear prespective. It will probably be like Hulk: Ultimate Destruction because it is made by the same people.

i guess your product should work real well , as the first impression is last and people are often critical of the prototypes they see around.
