Haven't ever been, want to go in May with the family. Me and my husband like the party scene, but we will have his 2 daughters with us (9 & 13). We like All-Inclusive Resorts. Any ideas?

Hey! i'm from Mexico, all depends on the sort of vacation you want to have, if your'e looking for modern cities with the mexican touch try Mexico City, Monterrey or Guadalaja, if you want sun and beach you can go to any of the touristic resorts all the way the pacific coast, Los Cabos, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo, Lazaro Cardenas, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Acapulco, Puerto Escondido, Huatulco, on the caribbean side the best option is Cancun (Mexico's number 1 destination), Cancun is not only sand and sea but also culture and history, if you enjoy visiting ancient ruins you might go Cancun, if what you're looking for is a "Colonial" city you can try any of the small towns and cities in cental mexico, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, the great Guanajuato etc. i'm sure you'll have a great time in Mexico, happy trip!

There are lots of beautiful places to visit. Here some tips about some places.

Puerto Vallarta - this is a nice place, but it is very Americanized. There have all the American restaurants and not much culture from true Mexico left unless you travel just outside the city. There is an Starbucks, Outback Steak house, Chiles....I don't know about you, but I don't travel to Mexico to eat Outback steaks.

Mazatlan - Fantastic! This is my all time favorite place to go. It has the culture, the food, the shopping and lots of great beaches and places to see.

Cancun - Since the Hurricane hit they are still rebuilding this city. It is a fantastic, wonderful place, but I would wait until it is more re-built.

Cabo San Lucas - This place is pretty and lots of tours and beaches to see. This is another city that has been Americanized a bit. Not as much as Puerto Vallarta.

Puebla - This is a great place. Lots of mercados (markets) and cultural places to see. I got to take a tour of the Medical school which may seem boring, but it was very interesting. Lots of shopping and they have bands in the plaza playing all the time.

I'm going to recommend PV or Playa del Carmen. Both are beautiful and give you the authenticity of MX as well as modern ammenties. Cancun was built to be just what it is, a tourist trap. It is mostly tourists that come to party. I'd suggest a 1st visit to one of these type cities and then return to some of the other ones. You can take day trips to the nearby cities to get the real feel. And watch out for the time share sharks!

If you want to go on the stereotypical Mexican vacation, and you don't want to see the real Mexico - go to Cancun and get drunk. But if you want to see the real beauty of Mexico go to Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Morelia, Oaxaca, San Luis Potosi, Patzcuaro, or San Cristobal de las Casas. There are so many beautiful places in Mexico, but everyone always goes to the beach tourist traps.

If you want the stereotypical vacation then go to Cancun or Acapulco, but if you really want to see the beauty of Mexico I suggest you go to states like Guanajuato, Michoacan, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, Queretaro..etc pretty much any central states.

I agree with TMLADENKA

If your idea of a vacation is staying in a hotel then stay home.

if you really want to see all the beautiful palces Mexico has to see travel to Chiapas, Oaxaca, Puebla. . . there are many things that you can do and enjoy together.

Puerto Vallarta is just beautiful. Also, rather than Mexico, consider Belize.

Stay off the border!(Tijuana, Juarez, etc.) fly, don't drive!

Guadalajara is my favorite. I'm from KY and I have place in Guadalajara.... It's pretty cool.

Mexico City is amazing,

The Pyramids are a must too.
