I just went off the pill after 5 years. I am trying to conceive this month as the doctor said it was okay, but I am having bad cramps 6 days after ovulation.

I feel really bloated too, and I am unsure if its pregnancy related or if its because I just came off the pill. My period is due in a week.

Did you get bad cramps after going off the pill?

Can I answer on behalf of my wife please?

she had bad cramps in her legs, around the calf muscles. she would drink water at bedtime to help ease it, but I found that regular , gentle massage before sleep helped more. After a week or so the cramps eased off but her bleeding became heavy during the period, she too experienced bloating but it was not uncomfortable.

It took a good 6 months for her body to become balanced again, I suppose the pill is a strong hormone!.
The Doctor said it is not unusual for this to happen, but the time the body reaches an equilibrium differs from person to person.

Good luck in conceiving.

I was on the pill from the age of 19 til I was 23 and when I went off the pill when I was 23, I did have have really bad period pains and cramping, it was 10 times worse than they usually were and I remember that the pain started a few days before the specific first period after being on the pill. I'm having the same kind of bad period pain and cramping now, although I think that it's actually 10 times worse again then it was back then and I am on the pill at the moment. My doctor and gyno thinks I have endometriosis and I'm waiting to have a laparoscopy done to find out for sure. If the pain persists, please go see your doctor/gyno and have it checked out, it could be something more than just really bad pains. Good luck :)

I stopped the pill after 10 years and had very irregular cycles afterward. I have been of them for about three years now and am still very irregular. At this point I only ovulate 2-3 times a year. MY GYN says it has nothing to do with the pill but I feel differently. As for the cramps yes they get worse after the pill, for me anyway.

Discontinued use of the pill makes your body irregular for quite some time. About 6 months at least. Its normal to have cramps, although some people do not. Just take some advil and you will be fine hun.

I didn't. Might want to look into a pregnancy test just to make sure if you are pregnant or not. Otherwise, talk to your doctor. Might be something serious.
