I started taking the pill on the sunday i started my period. My period only lasted 5 days, so on that saturday i had sex. My doctor told me to wait at least seven days before being sexually active and i only waited six. Could i be pregnant even though it was only one day?

You are probably okay if you started on the first day of your period and you are taking a normal combination (estrogen and progestin) pill. Theoretically you are protected immediately upon startup with that type of pill. If you are on the minipill, or a low-dose pill, you might be in some trouble. The first week after your period is not usually your most fertile time of the month, so take a pregnancy test if your period comes late, and otherwise don't worry too much about it.

It is possible that you could have gotten pregnant. Chances are that you are fine though. Generally you aren't "fertile" until 10-16 days after your period starts, and the pill should have made it so that you weren't ovulating to begin with. Odds are probably in your favor that you aren't pregnant, but like any birth control there is always a chance that it could fail.

Yes, you can. You should have waited until the pill had time to take effect.

If you do not miss any pills you should still be protected so I would not worry.
