what the hell do i do with all these herds that ive collected? do i trade, them, sell them, can i make potions, do i need recipies?
any advice would be appreciated, i also heard that this was a good money maker?

Most money - put them up for sale in the Auction House. Download an addon to help with pricing (I like Auctioneer).
Second option - Take alchemy as your second profession, turn those herbs into potions. Some of the higher level potions sell well.

You can sell them on the Auction House for Gold.
Or you can pick up Alchemy and turn them into Potions and then either use them yourself or sell those on the Auction House for gold.
