I think DNA has been recovered intact from the remains of frozen wooly mammoths. Think you would have to replicate the particular mammoth gene sequences and find some way of inserting these sequences to relace existing sequences into both oocytes of an elephant host. Don't know if that bio-tech exists yet!I think you would need the entire genome of both the modern and archaic elephant forms.

Probably soon if science advances far enough, or maybe our elephants will grow more fur and become what is now the mammoth
