Alcoholic beverage industry would complain about losing money. If they kept prices at the $60 per 12 pack and a $100 for a fifth, then they would have to cut jobs just to keep from losing so much money.

It would get to a point that the alcoholic beverage industry would lower there prices just to make some money. Besides even if they could sell temporary at $60 per 12 pack, another company would manufacture their own and sell for $50. Then another company would appear and sell for $40. Then another company would appear and sell for $30. Then another company would sell for $20. It is called finding a competitive advantage. When you can keep a competitive advantage for more than 10 years, it is called having a sustainable competitive advantage.

Competition would drive the prices down. Because alcoholic beverage is very cheap to make.

It seems like you must be a confirmed democrat, where tax is the answer to everything, and your statement regarding cig's being $15.00 per pack in NY is a bit high, like very high. Try again with some reasonable figures.
