or like moths to a flame, does power simply attract the corrupt or the corrupt minded?

thanks. I forget to add the "tends to corrupt."

the moth to the flame analogy seems on point. narcissist sociopaths, and worse, seem relentlessly desirous of having more, of everything, and being in a position to bully, and, as deemed necessary, liquidate others. the low of consciousness, but not necessarily of i.q., types, fueled by ruthless ambition will do anything to feed their bloated egos (and bodies--note the prevelance of morbid obesity among our politicians, especially the republiscum) ;-)

Since "Corrupts" is a subjective word, this phrase is as true as the speaker (or listener) wants it to be.

But to me, power doesn't corrupt, it merely exposes or amplifies existing corruption. Corruption comes from desire, not from the tool (power) that is used/misused because of it.

This is slightly different from your scenario, which is that power attracts the corrupt and corrupt minded. The pure of heart are also attracted to power, and for the same reason. Power is a means to an end, regardless the motive.

I believe Lord Acton said that power "tends" to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. For it is not necessarily true that power corrupts.

power atttracts the ambitious & weak minded but it depends on the reason for ur ambition and what means ur willing to go through that corrupts the person-a book thet portrays corruptive power is William Shakespeare's Macbeth (I NEVER SAID IT WAS INTERESTING BUT U MAY DIFFER)

if that statement were true... jesus and budha and the sorts would have been the worst human experiences ever! lol...

hmmm.... power in the hands of a feeble mind and an immature soul can be devastating... but for an evolved soul... its a natural expression of the spirit.... to be invincible.... to be responsible and inspiring...

anyway... in my humble opinion... that which causes destruction isnt power but a sign of weakness... true power is that which inspires beauty, life and creation...

Power is overrated. Stick with what you have. Take it, embrace it , make it your own. Don't try and become better or more powerful.
