I have the option of going to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina or Cancun in Mexico. Assuming resort expenses are equal, where would you recommend going? Has anyone been to both? Which do you like more? Which is more suitable for a honeymoon?

Hi Reggie! Well it depends on a few factors, when you want to go, what you like doing (interests), what you and your new wife plan on doing while there (spending most of your time at the hotel, or doing some tourist sites). I live in Atlanta, and am looking forward going going to Myrtle Beach in the near future, maybe even this spring. Supposed to be historical and lots of different things to do, but I think for more of a honeymoon, I would suggest Cancun. Much more romantic. You can go to Myrtle Beach anytime. Just make sure you don't go to Mexico during their hurricane season. Also, buy a few books from Barnes and Noble before going to find out stuff about culture, places to visit, what to do and what not to do (ie safe to drink water, etc.). Congratulations!! =)

Myrtle Beach Honeymoon

I been to both myself and I actually ended up in a dump at Myrtle beach, to me the beach was much cleaner in Cancun. If you pick Myrtle Beach dont go during Bike week, you will be miserable. Do check pictures of the Hotels online when you book and if your not sure ask the hotel for any references or positive feedback left by prior guests. One last thing for both places, it depends on what time of the year you go, Cancun is not the place for a honeymoon if you go during spring break. Congrats and good luck.

I've been both places. And for a honeymoon I'd prefer Myrtle Beach....less crowded, less expensive, better selection of nice accommodations (in Cancun you can end up in a dump if you don't select a good hotel), and if you like golf there are great golf courses in Myrtle Beach.

Have fun and congrats.

Cancun can be an open door to your desire holiday just similar to this place hotelbye to get there. Cancun delivers state-of-the-art lodge features on the list of best clubs, bars, and malls only some legs away from the most lovely beaches in the world.Among the areas you will need to see may be the Isla Mujeres. Here, the cool breezes hit over the area each day and evening and here you will love: the snorkelling, the scuba diving, the swimming with dolphins, the remote beaches for moonlight walks and personal discussions, and results of waterfront restaurants surrounded by good buying and beautiful natural scenery. If you're buying Cancun destination place to curl up, Isla Mujeres is the area to come.

How old are you? Cancun is more for 18-25 year olds, while Myrtle might be a bit older. Mexico is warmer though... Just don't drink the water, and I've heard stories about corrupt cops.
