He says that we are neither winning, nor losing the war in Iraq. REALIST! I love his pragmatism.

I love his pragmatism too when he says it is time to try talking to Iran and Syria.

I pretty much warmed to him this morning.. However we wait and see if he can communicate with Pres Bushco where others have failed. Let's wait and see. I suspect he too will be quickly frustrated.

I think it's funny how once you get someone on the Bush administration who wants to talk with Iran and Syria people change from saying:

TALKING WITH THEM IS APPEASING THEM (yelling at democrats)

to

Talking with them can save lives.


But it's very true he's a realist and I need to see more of him but initially I don't mind the guy.

He seemed a little to "excited" to be there for my liking.

And by the way....he said very early in the hearings that we are not winning the war in Iraq....not that we were neither winning nor losing.

I don't know if he is the right man for the job, but he is 1,000 times more qualified than Rumsfeld.
