Ley meaning meadow can be spelt ley or lea.

Ash , of course is the tree

I know that in the 1930's movie "Gone With the Wind" Ashley Wilkes's was the man Scarlett thought she loved for so long. He was actually a wimp in my opinion though. That is the only time I have heard it used for a man though.
