The single most influencing compliment I ever received was when a person told me that there were others we associated with that had said that they wished to be just like me. This was a two edged sword. It was flattering, but also left me feeling very burdened with the responsibility to act always in ways that were good. I felt that if I was to make a big mistake or fail that I would be letting down alot of people. I have since learned that part of wanting to be like me included the fact that I did make mistakes, but acknowledged them and tried to rectify them.

I was complimented on the fact that I am a stay at home father of 4 kids, and I do ever thing for benefit of my kids. But the real compliment will be when they are all grown up and see how they are with their families.

From my current fiance-"God, I can't understand how your ex ever let you go, but his loss is my gain".

To me that was the best and most sincere compliment I have ever received-considering I divorced my ex after 23 years of marriage.

When I directed my first play, it went very well. During the applause, my theatre teacher (who didn't like me very much) walked up to me and said, "It's a nice feeling, isn't it?" In terms of him, that means that I did a good job. It's always great when someone VERY unexpected pays you a compliment.

An elderly neighbor recently told me that she thinks I have the best kids with great manners. She wishes more parents in our neighborhood were like us. She told us that you don't see respect much anymore and she is so glad she has us as neighbors.

"You're not a nerd like Ramona. You're a Slytherin!" -my mate Emil.

"Wow... You're evil..." - my mate Kesa.

"He could become impotent!!" -Goran, an associate, referring to Giorgio, who I had just kicked in the nuts.

"...Her cold, calculating intelligence and disturbing lackof morals..." - Stalinia, one of my best friends.

And Branko, a renowned jocky kind of guy, complimented my dribbling skills in fourth grade. I don't suppose the principal coming to me personally to congratulate me after a performance counts...
