Before it was deemed illegal Mcgwire took a steroid known as "Andro". It has performance enhancing qualities. It was also suspected that he did other designer steroids He didn't help himself by going before Congress and saying "I'm not here to talk about the past" over and over again. It was almost an admittance to guilt.

No the MLB never caught him. However, trust me he DID do steriods. There are many people to back this up. Even baseball players who played with him. Jose Canseco is one guy I like that took steriods, he came out and admitted he did steriods, and cheated on his wives, and he didn't care what people thought. Canseco I believe even said that McGwire took them.

He wasn't really caught doing anything but he did basically admit it to congress. There is also evidence in the changes of his body such as gaining 50 pounds in muscle and 21 inch arms.

It is widely believed that he took steroids, Andro among them to further his stats and performances. He also is under scrutiny for being unwilling "to talk about the past" when summoned to speak before congress. He was an average player who gained mightily by using steroids. He is a cheat and a liar!!!!

Lying to Congress to start.I don't know how anyone can call him an avg. player he hit 49 homeruns his Rookie year before all the supplements, just look at his rookie card he was pretty skinny back then.He will get in the HOF it will just take a few years, anybody thats hit over 500 homeruns is in.

He was never caught but because of his (non) performance in front of the Grand Jury and staying well and truly out of the media spotlight after his retirement, there is little doubt he took steroids.

The only question is whether or not he should stay out of the Hall because of this, I say he should still go in, but not in his first year of eligability, but a few years down the line, I think he should go in.

He was one of the best players in the steroid era, he may of been cheating but a whole load of others were too.

He was never caught, but he was linked to steriods. And I think 98.643% of baseball fans agree with that. Jose Canseco admitted he took 'roids and wrote a book about it and those who also took them. Canseco stated that 'he personally ejected Mark with steriods.' I don't know if it's true, but I do believe he did take steriods.
