I saw the clip where he got all choked up while saying how proud he is of Jeb serving with honor. I guess his honor and integrity were not so apparent to those of us not from Florida. Is this just a proud dad, or is there a real reason Jeb should be so revered?

I agree, Whitebean. I find it touching when a parent is proud of their offspring. You don't even have to be old for that to happen.

Jim ex-marine, and Humanist- I totally agree with both of you. Sentimentality for one's son is touching, and I'm glad that Floridian's seem to like what Jeb has done for the state- but that family is all about oil. The American public knows of one time when Jeb seems to have been dishonest- Humanist mentioned it. If any politician also inadvertently does some good for people along with his dishonest deeds, I guess it is a good thing.

Catarina, as a resident of Florida, I will tell you that Jeb has done a pretty good job as our Governor. He has made some mistakes but overall, things are pretty good here because of his forward looking processes of thought. Back when he lost to "Walkin Lawton" Chiles (aka Rotten Lawton), the campaign leading up to his defeat was pretty rotten. Jeb Bush managed to avoid dirty campaigning for the most part and for that I applaud him. Lawton Chiles did not accomplish much of note during his time in Tallahassee, Jeb has accomplished quite a bit. I am still no fan of his changes in our educational system, too much fat and too many PhDs running things when someone with a head for business would be a more likely choice but overall, he has shown a great ability for administration at the executive level. And he seems to be a pretty decent guy. His Father was choked up over how Jeb reacted to his defeat. He showed great public grace and just put his head down and started a study group for future ideas on Florida issues. He did do himself proud in my opinion.

He said as he gets older he gets more emotional when talking about the ones he loves. (it happens to old people a lot). Since he was proud of the man his son turned out to be. Something I think any father would probably have done if feeling the same way.
You go George

since I am not from Florida I would like to hear from some of the people in Fla,give their opinion on Mr, Bush is he a good gov, or not ,however I do believe a bird of a feather flock together and so far 2 Bushes have shown us how sorry they were what about the 3rd, both Bushes who were presidents have shown us that they are nothing but oil Barron's and don't give a dam about the country or the people, and I usually vote Rep, but never again for a dammed Bush,I got burned once that is enough.

He served with honor when he arranged for his brother to steal the election of 2000. From my perspective, NOTHING a Bush says or do is to be held with esteem. They just need to get back to the desert and count their billions. Hopefully they will remember some dead Americans in their quieter moments.
EDIT: ere, ere Jim, ex marine. WELL SAID.

He was probably crying because after the debacle of his other son's presidency, he knows that Jeb doesn't have a chance of ever keeping the job in the family.

He saved that Terry Schiavo lady. Wait a minute, no he didn't.
He made elections fair, open, and trustworthy. Wait a minute, no he didn't.
He silently sat by and let his idiot ne'er do well brother take the job for which Jeb had spent his life preparing. Yeah, that one's good.
