farthers day would be farther rather than closer.
If you mean Fatgher's Day, I think in North America isn't it usually the third Sunday in June?
Father's Day is a primarily secular holiday inaugurated in the early 20th century to complement Mother's Day in celebrating fatherhood and parenting by males, and to honour and commemorate fathers and forefathers. Father's Day is celebrated on a variety of dates worldwide, and typically involves gift-giving to fathers and family-oriented activities.

My understanding is that the origin of Father's Day is more prosaic than the answer given by kentchatham (sourced from Wikipedia) above.
It was (so I understand) because shirt manufacturers in the U.S. in the early part of the 20th C. were fed up with having only one sales peak in the year (Christmas), so they "invented" Father's Day (conveniently in June, opposite Christmas, so to speak) to complement Mothers Day. Mother's Day (various names for this exist in different countries) is an event which has been celebrated for several centuries and has no commercial origin.

Farthers day varies, it is usually is the day or two after Christmas. That's when those pesky relatives (usually inlaws or inlaws of inlaws) you had to put up wiith go home, or you go to your's.
The name of Farthers day comes from the sentiment:
The farthers away they are from me, the happier I am!
(I hope this made someone's day!
