Think about it. If you needed to, for instance, appeal a court decision or try your case at the Federal level, but there wasn't a judge in the particular court in your district that you needed to go to, you wouldn't be able to have your case heard, unless maybe you went to another district (if that were even allowed). That could be quite a long trip. Furthermore, certain judges (liberal ones) think that it is somehow up to them to 'legislate from the bench' by taking on certain cases and rendering a decision that has less to do with the letter of the law, and more with how they want the law to be. They even look to FOREIGN law and FOREIGN court cases when making their decisions, NOT NECESSARILY OUR OWN LAW. By leaving the bench open to ACTIVIST judges that may be appointed later, we leave our laws open to attack.

they decide what is legal and illegal based on the constitution.. so things like abortion, gay marriage.. they get the final say if it makes it to them (both state and federal)..... and if anyone had a doubt about their importance or impact.. just look what happened in the 2000 election.. they are the ones with the final say that put bush in power!
