Congratulations! I would wait three months - that would put you at March then you will have three more months of the school year left!

I too am a teacher, and when I found out I was 9 weeks...I waited until I was 12 weeks to talk to them...that way you are 3 months...and miscarriage chances are a little lower.

I would schedule an appt. with your principal...talk to her/him in person...and let her know the wonderful news. Mine was elated. This is my first year here and such an unexpected pregnancy I was nervous she would be upset but she was sooo happy for me. (She is a mother with 6 grandbabies) She has been very supportive and is always asking how I am. Also...she needs to know bc there will be days you may have to miss bc of appts...most doctors offices will not see you that late in the afternoon, so you will need to take off time. If you have been there a year then you qualify for FMLA...which allows you 12 weeks off, of course that is unpaid unless you have the built up time or days. If you are preggers now...you will deliver during the summer which is great bc you may not need to take time off!!! Use that three months off and still get paid!!! Yay for you!!!

Your employer needs to know...and if you are married, feel free to tell your classes (sometimes when you are not married it can get harder...but I am not married, will be in two weeks, and my girls know). I teach dance so I had to tell mine...bc there are certian things I cannot do. Your kids will know soon enough...haha your belly!!! Enjoy this and love all the attention, it is amazign how into it my girls are!!!

Congratulations! I wish you the very best. Please tell your employer right away. I am sure that they know what to expect with Moms-to-be, and do not worry. There are laws that protect you and you should not be made to feel uncomfortable about being a pregnant school teacher. Good luck and God bless.

Congrats!

Most people wait until they're in their second trimester to tell people they are pregnant, because unfortunately, there's a high chance of miscarriage during the first three months. Tell him after you're three months along - that still leaves plenty of time to plan and get paperwork for FMLA and all that good stuff.

I would say after the first trimester.

I'm due in 9 days and I was so nervous about telling my boss, that I didn't tell him until I was about 7 months pregnant.

I just didn't have the balls to tell him. My boss took it very well and I'm happy that my entire department understood but you should tell when all is safe.

I would wait at least until after the first trimester. Then shout it from the mountains!! This will give them more than enough time to find a replacement for your maternity leave. Congrats and Good luck!!!

You need to tell them as soon as you can for several reasons. You want someone to know your condition at work for in case you should pass out or something. They need to know what to tell the medics, etc...

Also as a liability, there are some things the school administrators might not want you doing.....I don't know what you teach, but anything P.E. related or physical.

It's better to let them know for your own safety.

Congrats!!

I don't see why you should stress and be afraid to tell your boss. It is probably better to tell your boss soon because you will start to show eventually and when it does come down to have a baby they will find a subsitute anyway good luck.

I would wait at least until the end of your first tri mester of the pregnancy. This is the most un sure part of the whole nine months.

I would let them know immediately. That way when morning sickness and doctors appointments start, they can't exactly hold it against you. Plus, that will give them ample time to find a long term sub while you are out on maternity leave.

Congratulations!!!
