Have heard it a few times so far, so it must be the common sentiment.

The generalizing must end!!!!

I'm sure Germans have a sense of humor.
Don't know any---but, I'm sure they do.

All peoples have a sense of humor, its just some are hard to reach and get that response we were looking for, I think its because Americans have this belief that other nationalities were suppressed for so long they have for gotten what is funny, but I really and truly think its the other way around, other Nations look at Americans and call us push overs, because we let everything bother us and try to over come this fact by fixing everything... Its not working, Laughter is key to happiness for all. So Say We All

Most Americans just don't GET the German sense of humor. We live in a country that is so focused on political correctness and sugary politeness that the abrupt, blunt way that most Germans speak is a shock to us. This seeps over into their senses of humor.

I find it commendable myself. It would be nice if we didn't have to sugarcoat EVERYTHING here.

That is a very generalized question.. I'm American and I think that everybody has a sense of humor. I think you need to check your information source.
