small particles absorb moisture and speed up solution
large particles aid drainage and slow down solution
hence texture of small particulate soils is more smooth / wet

Fine soil is clay, texture is smooth, will flood/drown plants.
large particle is sandy soil, is ruff and you can not keep plants watered enough. A perfect soil is a loam.
