First of all, Iran is PERSIAN. If you call them "Arab" then they will Jihad your a&&.
Second, the problem is that the Israel was formed from European Jews who came in and imposed a government, culture, religion and language that no one in the area shared.
The people who were there originally ("Palestinians") consisted of Muslims, Christians (Bethlehem was mostly Christian) and Jews. The Jews were grudgingly accepted by the Europeans, but the others were definitely on the outs.
Most of the "Palestinians" have move to other places. Most moved to Jordan, while others are scattered all over the world (including my neighbors). Those that remain are hardcore, and lack leadership talent, and they won't be happy until every Jew is dead and gone.
It's awfully hard to negotiate with people who want you dead, and will accept no compromise, you know?
