We closed our pool 2 months ago and after some heavy rains we have almost a full pool again. Has anyone used a seperate pump to pump out the water so we don't have to reopen the pool to drain the water?

If you are merely draining to lower the water level versus full empty, then take your vacuum hose for the pool vac, place it inside the pool to fill the hose with water. Make sure you keep both ends under water, except for the next step. Take one end of the hose and place your hand over the opening to seal it, keeping the water from leaving the hose, then place the end of the hose over the side of the pool, let it hang about 2 feet over the side. Note: You may need to tie something heavy to the opposite end of the hose to keep it under water. If the water does not immediately siphon and begin spilling on the ground, gently suck on the end of the hose to get the siphon going. This will drain water from your pool, thru a two inch line, very quickly.

If it is an above ground pool, so as the others recommended. If it is below ground either keep water level at half full, or make sure you have pressure relief valves in your floor drains. With high amounts of rainfal or if you have a pool leak, water build-up under the pool can actually pop the pool out of the ground.
