I don't personally know of any programs that can do this, but before you start looking you might want to check the range of your laptops IR.
I've had a few laptops before, and used the IR with mobiles and PDA's. Over about 4 different laptops, 3 PDA's and a ridiculous number of mobiles, no combination of any of these mixed together (for transferring photos, backing up etc.) could be placed more than 3 or 4 feet apart.
I'm suspecting its probably the laptop itself that has the short range. On my current PDA I use a remote control program which can reach 15 feet easily. That surprised me.

1) IR cannot be used for high speed data transfer,
2) IR device also needed for TV to communicate,
3) IR communication is not that in continous fashion as bluebooth.

hi there you cannot do that unless your computers IR is strong. try searching for some softwares but i have a good feeling that the IR is input only.
I hope this helps.
