How old is he? How much do you want to spend? Every guy likes video games, no matter how old they are. If you've got some money anything with travel is cool too, like a cruise or some kind of trip.
But mostly guys are so worried that you will like their present to you, that they aren't even going to worry about what you get them :)

maybe a nice watch , or if he is into them a gorgous earring , a new walet , maybe a nice picture of you , a mans throw to keep him warm and thinking of you , a real nice belt , a ring , an out fit , a game if hes into this , his favorit music cd , a chess game if hes into this , if he is into sports get him something signed by his favorit player , like baseball , football , basketball , a new case for his cds , a new bowling ball if he likes bowling , a new cd player to carry with him .

Clothes(Quiksliver, west 49, ect), colonge, skateboard(if he likess that kind of stuff), or gift cards to his favorite store. But don't worry too much about the gifts. He should love whatever you give him.

Us guys are very obvious of what we want. Sports, video games, electronics...just see what the guy reaches for and if he really interested but can't get it...that's the item.

If he is into sports, get him something related to that. Or maybe something of his favorite singer or band. Depends on how much you want to spend.
