It has been scientifically shown that being gay is biologic in nature; therefore, one is born gay.

Born that way. I think some people choose to be bi-sexual or become bi-curious throughout their life, but no one chooses to be gay.
Like so many others here have said, why would anyone choose a life of discrimination and intolerance? Africans didn't choose to be born black so they could be enslaved and mistreated for centuries, did they? There are countless examples but just use your head for a minute...
Can you choose who you are attracted to? No. You can't. It's chemical. It's biological. It's just the way it is. There is no person on this earth who would choose to be something just so they could be hated, looked down upon and told they are wrong and going to burn in hell. Religion is a choice. Sexuality is not.
And for the record, being around a gay person will not make you gay. It's not a sickness you can "catch." It doesn't just rub off on you like a smell or a stain or something. Gay couples raise straight children and straight couples raise gay children. It has nothing to with environment or how one is treated/raised/etc. It's science people. Not witchcraft!

I answered this somewhere else, but here it is again, my stance on things:
I actually don't believe that we are born with a predetermined sexual orientation. There are too many people who find their sexual preferences changing over time for this to be true, in my opinion.
I do believe, however, that you don't per se CHOOSE/LEARN to be gay. You don't wake up one day and say "Geez, I think I'll eschew women and go for men instead." But just because you didn't choose it doesn't mean it's biologically a part of you, you know? It's not something you can change, I feel. Take this example, for instance- you are a cat lover. You just love your pet kitties. Never been a dog person, thanks. You just know for sure that you wouldn't ever want to own a dog. So, someone says- you choose to love cats. Well, no, you reply, not really. I mean, I just like cats. I've always been that way. Does that mean, then, that there is a cat-loving gene in your body? Of course not. It means that this is a preference in your mind, one that you cannot consciously change, but is not innate, either.
I think that human sexuality is immensely more complex than the labels we have today like gay and straight. I also believe that love is gender blind and a straight man can find himself falling in love with another man, still completely attracted to women and utterly not attracted to men, but emotionally and sexually satisfied with that one man he loves. Our sexual desires come from our personalities, our past experiences, our childhoods, socialization, and more. It's a heady, deliciously messy mix of everything, and it gives us all that's wonderful about our sexuality today, so diverse.
That's my stance on things. I know that a lot of gay/bisexual people claim they are born that way, and I understand why they feel that way. For them, the claim feels true. In my opinion, a lot of straight people call it a choice so they don't have to ask hard questions about God (creating that which He supposedly hates?) and their source of intolerance (how can you hate something that someone never chose to be, like skin color, or, in this case, sexual orientation?). Like I said, I think it's neither, but I don't mind people claiming they were born gay. Just as long as they don't say that all gay people were born gay, or all straight people were born straight, etc., etc.- until they have scientific proof to back that up.

The weakness in your question is that it polarizes people as either gay or not, and assumes there are only two possible contributing factors, genetics and free will.
It would be like asking how many feet of your height are from your genes and how many are from your nutrition as child. The interaction of the two is complex and inseparable, not to mention cannot be experimented with because of moral reasons. Human sexuality (the desire and drive) is ridiculously more difficult to measure and compare. Even between the tallest and shortest person is an infinite possibity of heights in between. I think the range is equally as varied between the Pornstar and the Pope.
Also be careful about with that line of questioning. It has been attempted to determine the morality of it based on the underlying causes. What is the point of assuming sexual orientation is purely a choice? As if it's more *sinful*? No, that contradicts basic christian beliefs that human nature already has a tendency to do evil.
I don't think the the answer to the question has would have anything to do with morality or ultimately the person responsibility of the individual, any more than it would excuse an HIV positive person from spreading their infection simply because it's their nature to desire unprotected sex.
back to your question more specifically, I hope you will respect the complexity of the phenomenon, at least from a biological perspective regardless of the philosophical questions.

It's hard-wired in the biology of the brain. Every culture we know about has a percentage of gay people born into it, throughout known history. Some cultures are less acepting than others, so there is secrecy & denial, but truly it is a fact of life.
You CAN choose how you act out your sexuality, but you can't choose where you are on the continuum.

I have researched and believe that people are born to be gay. There are genes that have been discovered that predispose someone to be born Gay. Along with that are certain environmental and other factors that tend to make sexual orientation what they are. This goes for heterosexual as well as homosexuality. I certainly did not choose to be Gay, in fact I fought it for a long time until I finally came out to myself first. When I did this I became a well adjusted person. This was as others saw me as well as how I felt about myself.

That my dear is a matter of semantics
People are born homosexual or bisexual or straight but they choose how they will Identify. I dentify as a g0y not as gay so it really does depend on how they choose to identfy.
