Oldest? Some people never wear makeup their whole lives... But if you want to determine what's the youngest a girl should start, I'd say no earlier than 13. Until you're about 13 or 14, your dermis (the underlying layers of your skin) isn't very strong and inferior products (like what you'd find on drugstore shelves) could be very irritating. For a start, be sure all products the girl uses are hypo-allergenic, like those in mineral makeup.

This doesn not mean a girl can't wear makeup at an earlier age once in a great while, like for Halloween or a touch of blush for family pictures.

I'm assuming you mean the youngest age. So I will answer in that way. I think that girls should not wear makeup before they are 16. It might seem like an arbitrary age and maybe it is. Personally, I just don't feel like a 13 or 14 year old girl looks right wearing makeup. Kids should be kids and not try to dress up to be older. If they want some pink lipgloss, that's fine. Who has ever seen a little girl at the mall wearing her friend's ugly eye shadow and generally looking like a clown? At 16, I think they might have a little more sense.

Foremost, a girl should not begin to wear makeup until she is a teenager, so 13 is the earliest age. However, at 13...she should only be wearing minimal makeup such as lipgloss and maybe a little blush or something fun like glitter to go out with her friends. Otherwise, the whole point of makeup as a young girl is to enhance your natural beauty; therefore, the more natural a girl looks the more attractive. The worst thing is when a beautiful young lady has all of this horrible makeup on her. It actually detracts from her beauty. Hope this helps !

I think that girls should start learning how to apply make up at 15 and can start wearing at 16 (high school sophmore).

One thing I've noticed with my daughter's friends is that some girls started wearing earlier, but they wore it like war paint. I guess they thought you had to see the color in the skin and eyes since it's make up. It was quite funny seeing young girls with bright red lips, reddish streaks along the cheek bone and greenish mascara around the eyes.

Make-up is supposed to be subtle girls.

I personally think that women really don't need to wear make-up until about 30. That's when the wrinkles start showing.

Well, oldest is hard to answer... No one should HAVE to wear makeup. In fact, some people never do it for their whole lives.
Still, if when they start doing it, no matter how old they are, they should only use it to get rid of imperfections. Ex:Acne
Except for mascara and eyeliner (but it shouldnt look like ur wearing it).
But dont use it so that you look unnatural, like purple eyeshadow or dark red lipstick. No matter how late you start, you need to begin with the simple stuff.

I think 14, because if you try to not let her wear makeup until later, she'll just start wearing it behind your back. The worst part of that is she'll get all her makeup advice from her girlfriends and end up either wearing colors that do not suit her or wearing too much makeup (in the attempt to look older but with the result of looking like a floozy).

Teach your teen that makeup is for enhancing beauty, and only allow her to use certain things... maybe light shadow, face powder (since teen skin can get oily), a black/brown or clear mascara and a light pink lip gloss. these things will only enhance her features slightly, but she'll still technically be wearing make up.

Good Luck!

i started when i was about 13 i think i didn't use a lot maybe just a bit mascara and lipstick i started the war paint about 15 and i have never stopped its like a pringle crisp the more you use the more make up you need it so try and hold off as long as possible as believe me i am hitting 30 and need it more now that ever. practise all different looks for day and special occasions you will find a happy medium with it all and it fun to but you can spend a fortune on it .x

I think that little girls (age 7 or 8) should be able to use play make-up when they are home dressing up but not when going out with mom shopping or whatever....but the real time for make up....in my opinion (drum roll please!) would be when she is sweet 16! I know that's probably too old for some but it makes a statement about growing up and becoming responsible enough to drive and taking pride in how you look. Not trying to look like you've smeared the stuff on just because you can.

I don't think there is an 'oldest age' - some women go through their whole lives without wearing make-up, it's really a personal choice.
