See, I been there longer then he has. But he is older and as a smells like he hasn't taken a bath in a couple of days. Like,.... you know..... bad smell in hair, and bad body smell. I do step away when he comes by, but its hard not to smell it. Even if you hold your breath, the smells stays awhile even after he leaves. BUT PLEASE HELP.

Is it B.O. or just a dirty, unwashed smell or what? There is really no "right way" to tell someone they stink without the risk of hurting their feelings. Someone in my office has really bad B.O. during the summer months especially and no one says anything, they just tolerate it. I don't see how people can't smell themselves and do something about it though...some people are pretty ripe!

The only thing I can suggest is maybe leave him an anonymous care package that includes deodorant and some bath soap. I've heard other people leave anonymous notes for someone around them who smells, too. Maybe do the care package AND the note all in one!

If you work for a larger company where your boss HAS a boss, speak to the top boss or your human resources dept. They are the ones paid (and should be trained) to handle tough work situations like this!!!

You could always do the whole breathe through your mouth technique.

You could always bust out some lotion or some body spray when he comes around and hope and pray it splashes him.

Or you could stealth mode it and walk up behind him when he doesn't see you and spray some. OR when he turns his back.

All are good ideas. Now, is it B.O. or bad breath???

I think bad breath is the worst to cure.

As far as buying him cologne?? You don't want people to think that you're "into" him, do you?

Best of luck!
Ashley.

If his smell comes from his mouth, then u would offer him gums every morning

if it's stinky sweat, i have a nice suggetion for you.. search magazines for an article about for exaple importance of using deodrant! or something smiliar,,, and leave handy for him to read

if both didnt work then u can use a anose plug up :D or waste ur sweet perfume on the place :D

Oh that is a tricky one. I think if you say absolutely anything at all, no matter how nice, he is going to dislike you. Maybe talk about new deodorants or breath mints (I don't know where the smell is coming from).

Really the only thing you can do without hurting his feelings is either hold your nose. Or when he comes around claim that their is a bad smell, maybe there is a dead mouse or something causing and he might help you find realizing that it is him....

How well do you and your boss get along? I mean ,try talking to him in private, tell him what u have to say,or if u really think u would lose your job just for telling him this you could put someone else to do it for u...
Don't know if it will help, good luck!

Well, don't stand so close to him. You can reach out for the cash. Back up a bit the other times.

no unless you guys are cool outside of work and you can tell him there. IF you have employee meetings or a suggestion box, make it a point to discuss employee hygiene . Let them know it is a concern for both you and customers.
