According the the BBC news website, dated 1 May, 2004, bestiality and necrophilia are now specific offenses for the first time.
At that time, a great deal of rewriting of the laws concerning sexual offenses was done, clarifying offenses and eliminating loopholes in general.
They probably fell into a more general category prior to that date.

To those who think it is illegal everywhere, I was shocked to discover during my search that it is not! In the US, there are no Federal laws concerning necrophilia, and only a handful of states have specific legislation addressing it.

Hello,

Necrophillia (sexual attraction to corposes, or even sexual intercourse with a dead body) is a prosecutable offence under UK laws.

**Sorry! as I'm not a legal practitioner I couldnt give you the technical reasons why. But frankly I would have thought it was self evident.

**The obvious thing I would point out though is that most so called normal rational people. When faced with the reality of a dead body in front of them DONT find it erotically or sexually of interest. Usually quite the opposite, dead bodies are from my own experience a total turn off. Its living people & living bodies that are a turn on. Enough said I think!!.

I think although the foundation of the "common law" system (in the U.S. and U.K.) may be based on judicial decision, I would guess that, like the US, the UK has abandoned the common law for crimes, and requires crimes to be in statutory form. So you look to laws passed by parliament, not by precedential decision.

i dont think under uk law that the human body is owned by anyone so as a point in law you have to rob someone of their possessions eg clothes etc . to do something to a body is strictly speaking not against the law but may fall foul of the power of attourney as to use , anyone please inform
