It depends on if the person receiving the gift is a geek and a TV watcher. As both a geek and a TV watcher, I would probably devote my life to you if I got a TiVo for Christmas.
Don't forget TiVo DVR accessories! The person receiving the gift needs to have a cable service. I've included a link to other DVR accessories.

yes TIVO rules i have had one for 4 years and will never watch regular t.v again willingly

depends. If I watched TV a lot and had many favorite shows. Personally, I would not.
