I have two both by Jessica Simpson:
"These Boots Are Made For Walking"
and Berlin's "Take my Breath Away"
reasoning: the originals sound so much better when not being screamed in a high pitched / squeaky voice

All remakes of "Bohemian Rhapsody" have been truly awful. Why? Because it's a class of it's own and perfect the first time. In fact you could spread that for most Queen stuff.

Similarly, I shudder when anyone tries to cover Bowie stuff, although there is an advert on TV with a reasonable slow version of life on mars

'These boots are made for walking' Jessica Simpson.

Reason is, she comes off as pretentious in her delivery, whereas Nancy Sinatra did not.

'Your Song', Rod Stewart.

Reason is, he gives some vocal styles that are way outdated in his cover. The choked up way he sings some of the lines. Sounds fake, pretentious.

edited to add:
Any recording of the songs from 'Thoroughly Modern Millie' that were made after Julie Andrews did them. She was the best at singing those songs because her pronunciations/inflections in her vocalisations seem much more appropriate for the era of the flappers. Also, the music for later recordings of those songs seems more like a modern interpretation of the music of the flapper era, rather than anything authentic.

Who ever made the remake of Bob Marly's Turn the Lights Down Low that was released a few year ago.
It is the worst as the original is a soulfull classic and just carnt be out done, and dident give have the soul/emocian as the original.

Britney Spears covering any classic rock song is horrible. I didn't appreciate Mariah Carey's version of "Bringin on the Heartache" either. It's good for musicians to explore different genres, but there are cases in which they just shouldn't.

I also thought Puff Daddy's version of the song by Sting was horrible. Certain genres don't translate into other genres very well.

Any remake by the Brady bunch.

They couldn't sing, and changed the beat. Modified the song and changed their meaning.

Madonna's version of American Pie.

I though she could sing, but she proved me wrong with that one. Modified the song, which destroyed a lot of the meaning.

Anything by William Shantner.

Couldn't sing his way out of a deaf school.

Really there are too many to list.

Britney Spears redoing the Rolling Stones Satisfaction. It's terrible, the cool fuzz guitar riff is gone, Britney can't sing, she has no talent. And Madonna's American Pie is pretty shitty too, so is Simpson's version of These Boots, I'm acutally a pretty big Nancy Sinatra fan, and that's just apauling.

I would also have to say the American pie by Madonna. it just doen flow the right way and it sounds awful. I think a great song should never be remade. I Think Santa BAby by Madonna is awful she soulnds like she is trying to be cute but I thinks it makes her sound like a spoiled baby. Eartha Kitts version sounds sultry and sexy. a big difference.
