It seriously depends on a lot.

Many states have hotlines where lawyers can seek ethical advise from other lawyers (They volunteer as pro bono work, so the calls are free.) Go to your states bar association website and look for one.

If you are a litigation consultant, wouldn't the client be a law firm or governmental entity? Wouldn't you know the answer to this if you have been providing professional services of this nature? I would say: disclosing the firm is OK, disclosing the firm's client (the matter upon which you were consulting) is probably not OK -- but it really depends upon the circumstances.

Woah, woah woah. Why would you be disclosing your client's name? To the prosecutor? To the opposing party? Don't you have a confidentiality agreement in place with your client?
You need to contact the attorney for whom you are consulting, because there could be SERIOUS reprocussions in the civil and criminal litigation should you make disclosures.

If you operate your practice sensibly and ethically, your "client" is an attorney at law, and you need do nothing more than give out that lawyer's name. Everything else is PRIVILEGED as attorney WORK PRODUCT.

It's the same with a forensic accountant or any other expert working through a lawyer on behalf of an accused or a litigant.
