This question is an impossibility. Skyscrapers take years to build. The NYC skyline gradually developed into many skyscrapers, which I would not describe as crowded.

The skyline developed during the industrial revolution of the early 1900s. The Empire State Building was completed in 1930 as the tallest building in the world.

Take care,
Troy

In the late 1920s . Big shot corporate executives wanted to race each other to see who could build the highest. The Chrysler building lost out to the Empire State Building in the race to the top. It took only 14 months to build the Empire State Building and it was completed in Art Deco style of the era in 1930. Also concrete and steel girders weren't yet full developed until the late 1920s.
